About the event
Author Anne Elizabeth Moore to host a monthly, six-session adult writer’s workshop beginning January 2023 through June 2023. The sessions will take place at Headwaters Arts Center in Stamford, NY. Anne will provide students with prompts and guidance as they use creative nonfiction, comics, and journalistic tools to tell stories about life in the Northern Catskills. Participants will acquire basic nonfiction writing skills, increase their confidence in sharing written content with peers, and develop critique and editorial skills.
About Our Instructor
Anne Elizabeth Moore was born in Winner, SD. She is the author of Unmarketable (2007), Gentrifier: A Memoir (2021), an NPR best book, the Eisner Award-winning Sweet Little Cunt (2018), and other titles. She was the founding editor of the Best American Comics, and is the former editor of the Chicago Reader and Punk Planet. She has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Ragdale Foundation, and the Yaddo Corporation. She is a Fulbright Senior Scholar, has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was the Mackey Chair of Creative Writing at Beloit College. She lives in New York with her cat, Captain America and currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts. The Chicago Public Library Best Book of 2017 Body Horror: Capitalism, Fear, Misogyny, Jokes is being expanded for the pandemic and will be out on Feminist Press in 2023.
